Job Description

Fondation EURACTIV is a think-and-do tank for the health of the media sector in Europe. It is an autonomous part of the EURACTIV Media Network, and ‘reconnu d’utilité publique’. Through projects, political reflection and advocacy Fondation EURACTIV: 

  • Advocate for media independence, media pluralism and language diversity in Europe
  • Support media coverage of EU policy both at a national and local level
  • Promote media innovation projects for media and related stakeholders

To strengthen our policy and communication activities, we are looking for a 

Communication and Policy Executive (m/f/d)

Duration of the contract: 1 year, with opportunities to continue
Expected starting date: November 1st 2019
Contract: As an independent contractor, nearly full time, allowing side activities

The Executive will: 

  • Support the continuous adjustment of our communication strategy
  • Help develop and implement our policy advocacy strategy, draft media policy documents
  • Support the communication of the Stars4Media project
  • Liaise closely and engage with relevant EU decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Manage the website ( and social media accounts (in cooperation with EURACTIV Media Network communication team and network)
  • Prepare and send the monthly newsletter
  • Ensure visibility of Fondation EURACTIV and support it’s Founder through other media, external events, speaking slots etc
  • Prepare presentation and communication elements for various purposes

The list of tasks is not exhaustive. Due to the nature of the organisation, team members are expected to support on the organisation of events and projects when needed, as well as with administrative tasks. 

No regular travel is expected. 

Work on evenings and week-ends might happen on an exceptional basis. 

Expected profile:

  • Relevant degree (Political Sciences, International Relations, Communications, EU affairs, etc) is preferred. Alternatively, relevant work or volunteering experience will be equally considered.
  • Minimum: Two years of relevant experiences (jobs, internships, volunteering) with EU affairs, media policy, political communication, or advocacy.
  • Preferred: Five years of relevant experiences.
  • Near native command of English (C2), Good command of French (B2), plus German very welcome. 
  • General understanding of EU affairs, advocacy and lobbying 
  • Affinity with the media sector in Europe, and support to its core values 

Digital competences:

  • Familiarity with collaborative working tools (Google suite, Trello, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Mailchimp, Survey Monkey, WordPress
  • Familiarity with basic MS office tools (PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Appreciated: familiarity with creative tools (Photoshop, Canva, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly how to use these tools can compensate.

  • Very good analytical skills, being capable of understanding and explaining complex concepts to a diverse audience
