Job Description

Policy Team Assistant

This is a new role and is designed to support the work of the Policy and Advocacy team ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively including the realisation of high quality and productive policy and advocacy activity.

This role will entail

  • Assisting in the amplification of the voice of Europe’s hospital pharmacists in EU policy development
  • Supporting the research and development of evidence-based policies and messaging on key issues relevant to hospital pharmacy in order to positively influence better European public policy making
  • Contributing to the interpretation and responses to external EU policy developments
  • Providing administrative support to the EAHP policy and advocacy team
  • Assisting with the development of effective relationships with other organisations and key stakeholders active in EU health policy

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing assistance to the Policy Officer and Policy Assistant, including monitoring, horizon scanning, legislative analysis and production of briefing materials
  • Contribute to major policy projects, for example, the common training framework project and EAHP’s work to facilitate the implementation of the 44 European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy
  • Produce and write material for the EAHP website
  • Produce consultation responses
  • Ensure appropriate recording of meetings
  • Maintenance and development of policy and advocacy related databases and information management systems
  • To help to respond promptly and accurately to policy and advocacy related enquiries from EAHP members and stakeholders
  • As required, help represent EAHP at conferences, seminars or external working groups, or in the preparation of articles and other items for publication
  • Any other duties as may be needed as part of the effective operation of EAHP’s policy and advocacy activities
  • Attend meetings as requested by COO or PO
  • Assist with preparation of presentations for meetings when requested
  • Assist with preparation of research as required to complete projects, attend meetings, etc.
  • Assist with English proofing, creating documents, proposals, etc.
  • Support COO/PO and/or Events Team during annual congress and other events as requested

Skills/Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level: Essential

Previous experience

  • Experience with working independently in a high-pressure administrative environment: Essential
  • Experience working with databases and spread sheets: Essential
  • Experience in campaigning, advocacy and/or EU politics: Desirable
  • Prior experience with research and/or experience of working within a research or policy-based role: Desirable

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the EU political landscape: Essential
  • Knowledge and interest in policies affecting the health sector: Desirable

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written (in English): Essential
