About EPRA

EPRA, the European Public Real Estate Association, is the voice of the publicly traded European real estate sector. With more than 260 members, covering the whole spectrum of the listed real estate industry (companies, investors and their suppliers), EPRA represents over EUR 450 billion of real estate assets and 94% of the market capitalisation of the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Europe Index. EPRA’s mission is to promote, develop and represent the European public real estate sector. We achieve this through the provision of better information to investors and stakeholders, active involvement in the public and political debate, improvement of the general operating environment, promotion of best practices and the cohesion and strengthening of the industry.

EPRA is currently seeking a maternity leave replacement for a period of 10 months, with a possibility of extension, starting mid-November 2018 for the position of EU Policy Manager. The full-time position is based in Brussels and will report to the Public Affairs Director.

Responsibilities

  • Protect and promote the interests of our members with EU, national and international policy-makers, regulatory and standardisation authorities
  • Analyse policy and regulatory developments in the fields relevant to EPRA (tax, finance, investment) and assist in developing public affairs strategies
  • Advocate for the development of REIT regimes to improve the tax efficiency of the European real estate market in a way that encourages the growth of the listed sector
  • Strengthen relationships with EU institutions, competent authorities (e.g. EIOPA, ESMA), national associations and the investment community
  • Act as EPRA Regulatory and Taxation Committee secretariat and contact point for queries
  • Draft position papers and reply to public consultations
  • Co-organise events involving decision-makers
  • Write thought pieces and articles for EPRA publications and third party literature
  • Support the Public Affairs Director where necessary

Desired skills & requirements

  • Several years of experience in government, regulatory, corporate affairs in the public or private sectors
  • Master’s degree or equivalent is necessary in a related discipline (i.e. Law, Tax, Finance, EU studies)
  • Knowledge of the political/regulatory environment related to finance, insurance (Solvency II) and/or real estate investments
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with senior political representatives
  • Ability to build trust and promote confidence both externally and internally
  • Proven analytical and coordination skills
  • Excellent judgment, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Results driven self-starter, able to manage several projects at the same time in a fast-paced dynamic regulatory environment
  • Ability to prioritise a dynamic workload and effectively meet deadlines
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other European languages is an asset
