Job Description

The European Salt Producers Association (EuSalt) represents the interest of European salt producers and provides information on salt and its many applications to the public at large and stakeholders. EuSalt proactively engages with the European institutions and international organisations with a view to best represent the members’ interests. The association also feeds on multiple platforms for dialogue and information exchange, and participates in various multi-stakeholder projects.

EuSalt has initiated updating the Business plan and has identified 5 core themes: communication, safety, optimal nutrition, circular economy (i.e. a recycling economy), and social and environmental responsibility. In these fields a need for action and the development for a strong voice of the industry are set as priority and strategy to be developed. In order to develop these strategies and help EuSalt to be more prominent EuSalt is looking for a

Manager Public Affairs

to lead the developments, starting in the first quarter of 2017.

Tasks:

In order to help to raise the public affairs profile of the association and the industry, the Manager Public affairs manages the following:

  • Developing, introducing and active engagement in Public Affairs-strategy and lobby strategies for the association in line with the strategy and priorities,
  • Developing, analyzing and enlarge the network of relevant stakeholders in the European institutions, industry associations and the non-governmental organization,
  • Identify, analyze and develop the opportunities of alliance building with other industry associations and stakeholders,
  • Active participation and engagement in industry platforms,
  • Helping to identify, monitor and reporting on the European legislation relevant to the salt industry (namely in the fields of energy, environment, and food and health),
  • In order to complement the Public Affairs strategy, managing and developing communication tools and maintaining the association public website and social media tools (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Blog,…) active and updated,

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Graduate in science, law, political sciences or Business studies,
  • 5-8 years’ experience either in a similar position in associations, or with relevant experience in working in the European institutions,
  • Excellent proficiency in English, German, French or Spanish is an asset,
  • Strong oral, written, and communication skills,
  • Mastering the IT-MS-Office tools as well as social media tools,
  • Ability to maintain and manage website content,
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a small team,
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups of people in a multi-cultural environment,
  • Have good administrative and organizational skills,
  • Affinity with policy making
  • Affinity with technical dossiers is a plus, but not required,
  • Flexibility and eagerness to learn
