Public Affairs Advisor

Growing Media Europe is an international non-profit organisation representing the producers of growing media and soil improvers at European level. Our main objective is to promote optimum legislation for the manufacturing as well as the free trade of growing media within Europe.

To cover for a maternity leave, we are currently looking for a Public Affairs Advisor. In this role, you will – in cooperation with the Board of Directors- coordinate the association´s public affairs and take over most of the administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the association´s day to day operations, following up on all current activities
  • Administrational tasks and the organization of meetings
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on EU policy and relevant legislative procedures
  • Help creating the association´s public affairs profile and implementing public affairs objectives
  • Carrying out communication activities (public relations, website)
  • Internal reporting and coordination with the members
  • Participating in relevant events

Required Skills and Experience

  • University-level education, preferably in a related field
  • Professional experience related to the profile will be an asset
  • Good knowledge of the EU Institutions and policy making process
  • Ability to understand and summarize EU policy information with the capacity to identify key issues
  • Ability to work autonomously, pro-active “self-starter”
  • Ability to multitask and work under deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English is a must. Other EU languages are an asset
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills
  • Good computer literacy skills (MS Office, website management)


  • Entry-level position with responsibility in a European political environment
  • 6 months full time contract under Belgian law, starting mid of February 2018
  • Salary dependant on experience and qualifications
  • Workplace Brussels with limited traveling inside the EU
