Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) seeks a

Communications Assistant (m/f)

In coordination with Global Communications team and Executive Director, PPTA Europe, the Communications Assistant will assist in planning, implementation and evaluating PPTA’s communications strategies at the EU level, in Germany and in countries where a PPTA national group is active. The Communications assistant will also assist in legislative monitoring and tracking in support of PPTA Europe’s health policy activities at the EU level and administrative support for activities in Germany. The position is based in Brussels. Some travel required (10-15%).

Qualifications:

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field

Experience

  • 1-3 years experience as public relations and/or marketing professional, in the life sciences sector desired
  • Experience in producing quality print and digital media in German and English
  • Administrative experience

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent command of German and English, both written and verbal; other languages an asset
  • Knowledge of all aspects of communications including public relations, publications, infographics, video development, website maintenance, social media networks & platforms
  • Proficiency in standard office applications and web content management system tools (Joomla desirable)
  • Ability to distill complex issues into layman’s terms
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a matrix organization, team player
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, work efficiently in fast-paced environment, adapt well to change
  • Creative and analytical thinker

Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications support (60%)

  • Assist in the development of a wide-range of audience specific communications materials, i.e. brochures, fact sheets, press releases, newsletters, website content, social media content
  • Coordinate media coverage of PPTA events and developments in EU countries; build relationships with trade press, members of media and other constituents
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of targeted communications and public awareness campaigns
  • Provide communications support for activities in Germany: disease awareness program (FIND-ID), industry awareness, including organization of exhibits
  • Contribute to the development, improvement and maintenance of PPTA Germany websites
  • Assist in effectiveness evaluation of communications and outreach projects
  • Assist in logistics of annual conferences, including on-site duties, as required

Advocacy/Outreach support (20-25%)

  • Assist in development and organization of effective, audience-targeted advocacy communications materials
  • Organize meetings with MEP’s and outreach meetings with stakeholders
  • Develop and manage a database for stakeholder mapping and monitoring
  • Identify, monitor and track EU and national level legislative issues

Administrative support – PPTA Germany (15-20%)

  • Format, distribute and file correspondence, meeting materials, presentations and other documents according to Association’s Document Management System (DocSys) procedures
  • Schedule and organize board meetings, committee meetings, conference calls, and other meetings as assigned
  • Other administrative and project support duties as required
