SEA Europe, the Shipyards’ and Maritime Equipment Association of Europe, is the voice of the European maritime technology industry. SEA Europe promotes and supports enterprises which are involved in the design, construction, maintenance and repair of all types of ships and maritime structures, including the complete supply chain of systems, equipment and services. The industry is the key enabler of the Blue Growth, providing the technologies and vessels for the development offshore energies, green shipping, aquaculture, maritime surveillance activities, and so on. With an annual turnover of over EUR 91 billion, the sector provides over 500,000 direct jobs in the maritime technology industries in Europe.
SEA Europe is the European umbrella organisation representing shipyards and maritime equipment designers and providers. 90% of the industry is represented through SEA Europe membership. It is registered as a Belgian organisation, and represents the maritime technology industry in 16 countries.
SEA Europe represents its members in front of the European institutions, the IMO (International Maritime Organisation), the ILO, OCDE and other international networks and organisations.
The SEA Naval Working Group (SEA Naval)
The SEA Naval is a permanent dedicated working group under SEA Europe’s umbrella open to naval companies ranging from large naval integrators to SMEs as well as to member-associations.
European naval yards and equipment have proven to be world leaders in functionality, quality and value and in terms of exports volume in international naval markets. SEA Europe facilitates the cooperation at European level in areas of naval common interest through the SEA Naval. It serves as a platform for the European Naval industry to meet and discuss relevant topics and for jointly participating in EU funded projects.
It represents nearly 100% of naval shipyards and provides a forum for discussing matters of common interest to the naval sector, notably defining a common position on research and development and supporting institutions with expertise when needed. Our goal is to provide the EU and its Member-States with the expertise, technology and capabilities required to guarantee their freedom of action.
To this day, it is the only representative voice of the naval industry. The SEA Naval successfully achieved several flagship projects and is the interface of the Naval Industry with the EU Institutions.
SEA Naval is looking for a junior project officer for helping with the management of an EDA funded project on naval matters. In order to support the execution of the project, SEA Europe is looking for a temporary collaborator with project management skills. He will be in charge of managing the execution of the project.
In your capacity of SEA Europe Naval Project Officer, you will report to the Secretary General of SEA Europe, the Chairman of the SEA Naval and the secretary of the Group.
You will coordinate the various activities of the project, follow and manage the good execution of all the tasks within the Work Packages and integrate the deliverable of the partners into one coherent deliverable. You will also be the interface between the European Defence Agency and the partners.
In this position, you will be helping the SEA Naval Secretariat in running the project, by supporting project partners in your capacity of coordinator. You will be advising and coordinating the SEA Naval’s technical experts through the elaboration of the various deliverables.
To undergo your tasks, you will have to
- Represent, in consultation with the Chairman, the SEA Naval at various meetings and event, set in the Descriptive of Work:
- Run the two Work Packages where SEA Europe is lead partner;
- Be responsible for the overall coordination of the project.
- Organise and conduct internal/external meetings, including setting up the agenda, the elaboration of preparatory document and drafting of Minutes of Meeting;
- Develop reports and deliverables, integrating partners’ contributions.
You have project management skills and a first experience in this field. You hold a University degree from a Business or Engineering school. You have a general understanding of the importance of R&D regarding the development of Member-States military capabilities.
1. You are Fluent in English:
- Knowledge of French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or German are a plus;
2. A first experience in Project Management, is needed:
- Knowledge of WBS Project is a plus;
- Experience with EDA/EU project is a plus.
3. Comprehension of Defence/Industry challenges is a must:
- A strong knowledge and interest in naval matters is a plus.
- Good writing skills and organizational autonomy are required;
- Capacity to work under tight deadlines;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must;
