Senior Consultant (m/f/d) Environmental Policy

Trinomics is a research-oriented consultancy firm dedicated to supporting the transition to a low-carbon, green and climate resilient society. Our work includes applied economic research and policy advice, training and knowledge transfer in different subsets of environmental, energy, and climate change topics, with clients ranging from national governments and line ministries in Europe and beyond to European institutions and other international clients such as multi- and bilateral donors and international financial institutions.

As part of the expansion of our European business operations, we are looking for an experienced Senior Consultant to join our EU environment policy team, either in Brussels (BE) or in Rotterdam (NL).
The successful applicants will support the cluster manager in further expanding Trinomics’ project portfolio in European environment policy development and assessments.

We are looking for an open-minded and motivated colleague who would like to join our dynamic team and work in a professional yet informal working atmosphere.

Profile of the candidate

We are looking for a candidate with a rigorous knowledge of European environment policies and practices and solid experience in developing EU policy impact assessments and evaluations.
The ideal candidate would have strong analytical capacity, an eye for detail, the willingness to go that extra mile if necessary, and a desire to operate in multidisciplinary project teams.


  • Completed M. Sc. Degree in:
    • Economics, Environmental Economics;
    • Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Sustainable Development or other relevant discipline with a good feeling for economics and finance.
  • At least 8-10 years of relevant professional work experience with at least 5 years in public policy research and consultancy, including:
    • Implementation of policy studies, EU impact assessments and evaluations; o Proposal development;
    • Project management;
    • Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research and analysis;
    • Advisory.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU environment policies and policy instruments in at least one of the following areas, as well as the wider policy context, is expected and should be demonstrated via previous employment experience and/or consultancy assignments:
    • Clean water, flooding, oceans, blue economy inn a EU perspective;
    • Air pollution and industrial emissions.
  • Interest to work on a wide range of EU environmental policy issues within these domains;
  • Ability to work, write and communicate fluently in English;
  • Very good writing and analytical skills;
  • Eligible to work in the European Union (EU).


  • Familiarity with the EU Better Regulation guidelines;
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out pro-active business development and acquisition in the required areas of expertise, together with a good network of established contacts within the EU environment policy community;
  • Ability to work in additional languages (particularly Dutch, French and other EU languages).
